Sunda Kelapa Old Harbour

Sunda Kelapa is the venerable port from which Jakarta itself grew, a working harbour where magnificent wooden pinisi schooners still load and unload by hand as they have for centuries. The sight of these towering masts lined along the quay is among the most evocative in the city, a living link to the maritime spice trade. Nearby stand a lookout tower and a maritime museum housed in old Dutch warehouses. Visitors may hire a small boat for a closer view of the timeless, salt-scented waterfront.
